On the left is a towering mountain rock, and on the right is a steep slope. 51 year old Mei Chunlei carries a medicine box and rides a motorcycle on the rugged mountain road of Qianjiangping Village, Shazhenxi Town, Zigui County, Hubei Province, starting a day of follow-up work.

There are several hand drawn maps in the medicine box, which outline the approximate locations of 383 households in Qianjiangping Village along the 348 National Highway. Mei Chunlei numbered the civilian numbers of each village and marked their basic health status with a striking red pen after their names - "old" represents the elderly, "high" means hypertension, and "sugar" means diabetes

Stopping the car, Mei Chunlei took out the "health map" of six groups of villagers, followed the winding curves of the hand drawn road with his fingers, and finally landed at the position marked with the number "11". This is the home of 64 year old villager Mei Changqing and his wife Zhou Cheng, marked with "old" and "high" next to them.

After measuring Mei Changqing's blood pressure and blood sugar, Mei Chunlei reminded her to take both types of antihypertensive drugs together, with a high pressure of 160 and a low pressure of 100. In addition, she should try to eat less salt and oil in her diet, and eat less kimchi, fatty meat, and animal organs.

After the first follow-up in August last year, Mei Chunlei marked Mei Changqing's problem on the "health map" - "high". Regular home visits and medication guidance... After more than a year of health management, Mei Changqing's physical condition gradually improved.

Mei Chunlei is from Meiping Village, Shazhenxi Town, and has been a rural doctor in the village for 25 years. Last June, he was transferred to Qianjiangping Village, which is separated from Meiping Village by a river. This is a mountainous village with complex terrain, with over 2200 people scattered within 16 square kilometers.
