Food safety is related to everyone's physical health. How can we ensure that ordinary people can eat with peace of mind and healthily? On May 25th, the National Health Commission held a press conference to interpret public concerns.
China has issued a total of 1750 national food safety standards
Food safety standards are an important cornerstone for safeguarding public health. Gong Guoqiang, Deputy Director of the Food Department of the National Health Commission, introduced at the press conference that the National Health Commission has issued a total of 1750 national food safety standards in accordance with the "most rigorous standards" requirements, involving more than 20000 indicators and covering more than 340 food categories.
In terms of production process control, the newly revised General Hygiene Standards for Food Production have established stricter "rules" for every process of food production enterprises. Gong Guoqiang said that the new standards encourage enterprises to identify "key control points" and strengthen allergen and microbial control. If the pipelines used to produce peanut butter are not thoroughly cleaned, residual allergens can pose a health hazard to consumers who are allergic to peanuts. The standard requires companies to thoroughly clean up and keep these "impurities" out of the door.
