September 15 is the "World Lymphoma Publicity Day". According to the statistics of the World Health Organization, lymphoma is one of the fastest growing malignant tumors in incidence rate. So, how to achieve early diagnosis and treatment for lymphoma? How is the current treatment effect for lymphoma? Listen to the expert's explanation.
Zhu Jun, Chief Physician of the Department of Lymph Oncology, Cancer Hospital of Peking University: (According to the statistical analysis of the past two decades, the annual incidence rate of lymphoma has increased rapidly, about 4% -5% annually. Among all tumor diseases, it is a relatively fast rising group, and the majority of this rising population is over 65 years old.).
Experts explain that the pathogenesis of lymphoma is not yet very clear, but the factors we know that may be related to lymphoma include infections caused by bacteria or viruses; Abnormal immune function causes changes in the lymphatic system; Long term use of immunosuppressive drugs can cause immune system disorders; Radiation factors can cause a high incidence of lymphoma.
Lymphoma can occur at all ages, but overall, it is more common in young and elderly people, which is related to the development process of the human immune system. The immune system of young people has not yet fully developed and matured, while the immune system of elderly people is gradually declining.
The most typical early manifestation of lymphoma is painless enlargement of lymph nodes in the superficial area, concentrated in the neck, clavicle, armpits, groin and other body parts.
Dr. Zhu Jun, Chief Physician of the Department of Lymphoma and Oncology at Peking University Cancer Hospital: Lymphoma may not change significantly in the early stages, but sometimes we can detect it through routine physical examinations. For example, a B-ultrasound can determine whether there is lymph node enlargement, and sometimes it may develop into certain stages or specific types of lymphoma. It may be accompanied by unexplained fever, unexplained weight loss, weakness, sweating, and so on, all of which need to be taken seriously.
