Innovative Traditional Chinese Medicine Promotes Prevention and Treatment of Atrial Fibrillation

The "Guidelines for the Management of Atrial Fibrillation in China (2025)" (hereinafter referred to as the "Guidelines") were officially released at the 8th Annual Conference of the Elderly Cardiovascular Disease Branch of the Chinese Geriatric Health Medical Research Association and the 15th Thrombosis Prevention and Treatment Seminar. The Guidelines recommend for the first time the use of the Tongluo drug Shensong Yangxin Capsules for maintaining sinus rhythm in paroxysmal atrial fibrillation and preventing recurrence after radiofrequency ablation of persistent atrial fibrillation.

The Guidelines clearly state that for paroxysmal atrial fibrillation, the traditional Chinese medicine Shensong Yangxin Capsules (IIa, B) can be used alone to maintain sinus rhythm, or in combination with traditional antiarrhythmic drugs. "Shensong Yangxin Capsules can be used to maintain sinus rhythm in paroxysmal atrial fibrillation, with efficacy comparable to propafenone and better safety. Shensong Yangxin Capsules can effectively reduce the recurrence risk of persistent atrial fibrillation patients within one year after radiofrequency ablation by 40%, significantly reduce the atrial fibrillation burden (duration and frequency of atrial fibrillation) at 3 and 6 months after surgery, improve the quality of life of patients, delay the first occurrence of atrial fibrillation/atrial flutter, and have good safety
