On February 25th, it was learned from the Ministry of Education that the results of the 2024 National Student Physical Health Examination showed that the overall excellent rate of physical health among primary, secondary, and tertiary students in China has increased by 9.3 percentage points compared to 2016. Key indicators such as student height and lung capacity continue to improve, and the gap in physical development between urban and rural students is gradually narrowing.
Significant achievements have been made in the prevention and control of myopia. From 2021 to 2024, the overall myopia rate among students in China has achieved a "four consecutive decreases", dropping to 50.3% in 2024, a decrease of 3.3 percentage points from 2018, and successfully achieving the established prevention and control goal of an average annual decrease of 0.5 percentage points.
The level of campus food safety assurance is steadily improving. At present, the national primary and secondary school canteens have basically achieved "six 100%": the equipment rate of "three prevention" facilities, the implementation rate of the accompanying meal system, the training rate of practitioners, the coverage rate of the parent committee for meal supervision, the completion rate of complaints from teachers, students, and parents, and the coverage rate of monthly special supervision for responsible supervisors entering schools have all reached 100%; The coverage rate of "Internet plus+Bright Kitchen" reached 99.9%, and the information interconnection rate of education, market supervision and other departments at county level and above reached 99.3%. The closed loop of campus food safety supervision was basically formed.
The Ministry of Education stated that the next step will be to deepen the implementation of the student physical fitness plan and continuously improve the physical and mental health level of students. At the same time, we will deepen the reform of educational evaluation, adhere to the concept of "health first", correct the one-sided orientation of only focusing on scores and enrollment from the source, follow the laws of education and student growth, and regard the comprehensive development and healthy growth of students as an important criterion for testing the effectiveness of educational work.
