Don't wait until bedtime to brush your teeth
Yin Ping, deputy chief physician of the Department of Stomatology at Xiangya Hospital of Central South University, introduced that the habit of brushing teeth before going to bed is not friendly to people who have difficulty falling asleep.
If there is a four to five hour interval between brushing teeth before dinner and bedtime, bacteria brought by food residue will settle in the mouth and affect oral health.
Brushing teeth and some peppermint ingredients in toothpaste can stimulate the brain to become active and drive away the accumulated drowsiness.
Therefore, it is recommended that everyone brush their teeth half an hour to an hour after dinner, which can create a sense of ceremony as they enter the night and relax their body and mind. Be careful not to eat or drink sweet drinks before bedtime.
It should be noted that brushing teeth immediately after meals is not recommended. The normal oral pH range for the general population is 6.6-7.1. There are studies showing that the pH value of the oral cavity begins to decrease after eating, that is, it begins to "acidify" and reaches its lowest point after about 12 minutes. Subsequently, the oral pH gradually increased and returned to normal levels after half an hour.
If you brush your teeth immediately after a meal, the oral environment will be acidic, and the minerals in your teeth will be dissolved. Brushing and rinsing your teeth will take away these minerals. Therefore, brushing teeth half an hour to an hour after meals is more scientific.
Not brushing your teeth properly can affect overall health
Not brushing your teeth properly can not only lead to oral problems such as dental caries and periodontal disease, but also increase the risk of various diseases.
