What are Other Tapes？
Other tapes mainly introduce waterproof medical foam tape, which is a kind of medical tape with the functions of waterproof sealing, buffer protection and fixing dressings. The core structure is "foam base material+medical adhesive+waterproof coating", which is mainly used to fix wound dressings, catheters or protect skin, especially suitable for wet environments or scenes requiring frequent contact with water.
Three layer core structure
Base material layer
Mostly polyurethane (PU) or polyethylene (PE) foam, soft and elastic, usually 1-3mm thick, can fit the skin contour (such as joints, fingers and other moving parts), while providing cushioning to reduce the friction of the dressing on the skin.
Adhesive layer
Made of medical grade pressure-sensitive adhesive (such as acrylic adhesive), with strong adhesion and low skin irritation, it is not easy to peel off due to activity or moisture. Some products contain low sensitivity formulas, suitable for sensitive skin populations.
Waterproof layer/coating
The surface is covered with a waterproof film or coated with a hydrophobic coating (such as polytetrafluoroethylene), which can block the penetration of moisture and sweat, prevent infection caused by damp dressings, and isolate external pollution such as dust and oil stains.
