During the Spring Festival holiday in Wuhan, Hubei Province, 28 year old Ms. Hu (surname Hua) used her phone to watch TV dramas for several consecutive days. Due to dry eyes, photophobia, and decreased vision, she went to the hospital for treatment and was diagnosed with dry eye syndrome.
After inquiring about her medical history, the doctor told Ms. Hu that this was caused by her prolonged use of electronic devices in the past few days.
Doctors remind that dry eye syndrome is not as simple as "dry eyes" as people think. It is a chronic eye disease caused by a combination of multiple factors. Severe dry eye syndrome can lead to various eye diseases such as keratitis and corneal ulcers, ultimately resulting in decreased vision or even blindness.
