The National Health Commission held a press conference on January 5th to introduce the situation related to "seasonal solar terms and health". Gong Yanbing, chief physician of Dongzhimen Hospital of Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, introduced that in traditional Chinese medicine theory, there is a saying that "the spleen is the foundation of nurture", and the quality of spleen and stomach function directly affects the health of the body. During the Xiaohan season, it is in the cold stage, and there is a folk saying that 'Xiaohan is better than Dahan'. Therefore, it is particularly important to maintain the digestive system during this season.

Gong Yanbing stated that during the cold season, the impact on the gastrointestinal tract is mainly reflected in two aspects. On the one hand, the invasion of cold pathogens into the body can lead to poor circulation of qi and blood in the gastrointestinal tract. On the other hand, during the cold season, people's dietary habits change and they may consume high calorie foods to keep warm, which can lead to weakened spleen and stomach function and decreased digestive ability. So at this season, the first thing to protect the gastrointestinal tract is to keep warm, especially for those who already suffer from chronic gastrointestinal diseases. It is even more important to pay attention to keeping the abdomen warm. If necessary, warm babies can be used to warm the abdomen and prevent the invasion of cold pathogens.

Gong Yanbing stressed that diet is also very important. In the cold stage, to avoid some too cold food or drinks, we can choose some warm and easy to digest food, such as ginger tea, nutritious Congee with coarse grains and fine grains, which can not only maintain the stomach, but also provide enough calories.

Gong Yanbing recommended a tea drink at the meeting - red date, longan, goji berry tea. Red dates have the function of nourishing qi and blood, and longan, also known as longan meat, has the effects of warming the heart and spleen, nourishing qi and blood. It is also very helpful for digestion in cold seasons. Goji berries are a medicinal herb that nourishes the liver and kidneys, and also have a beneficial and shrewd effect. They are also very helpful in improving immunity in cold weather. For these ingredients, you can take 5g of longan and goji berries each, 3 jujubes, which can be split and boiled in 1000ml of water for 3 to 5 minutes before drinking. For people who are prone to getting angry, you can add 2-3 chrysanthemums inside. Due to the high sugar content of jujube and longan, and the Congee food just mentioned, it is not suitable for diabetics to choose.
