Reducing fat intake contributes to longevity

The German Dietetic Research Institute said in a communique on the 14th that the latest research shows that eating a large amount of fat will reduce life expectancy, and reducing fat intake is the most conducive to longevity. More exercise can also offset some of the negative effects of a large amount of fat intake.

Since it is impossible to conduct long-term dietary tests on human subjects, the researchers chose two kinds of experimental mice to carry out the experiment, one is the common type, and the other is the type of genetic variation. The muscle tissue of the latter will consume more energy than the common type, which can simulate the situation of large amount of exercise.

In the experiment, the researchers developed three different dietary combinations according to different proportions of fat, carbohydrate and protein. After 11 weeks of life, the researchers began to give them targeted feeding. Each rat used the same fat diet until the end of life.

The results showed that the ordinary experimental mice that ate a lot of fat, appropriate protein and a lot of carbohydrates had the shortest dietary life span. They were also the most obese and the fastest weight gain group, with an average life span of only 548 days. The mice with the same diet had lower obesity and weight gain, and lived an average of 785 days.

The longest-lived diet is a small amount of fat, a large amount of protein and a large amount of carbohydrates. The average experimental mice with this diet can live 814 days, while the genetically mutated mice can live nearly 850 days. The researchers suggest that people should eat less greasy food, and people who like to eat greasy and fatty food should pay more attention to exercise. The results were published in the latest issue of the British Journal aging cells.
