With the rapid development of the social economy, the scale of China's pharmaceutical and health market continues to expand, and there is an urgent need for more medical talents, which has led to an increasingly prominent shortage of relevant talents. This is the most direct motivation for the country to establish five guiding majors for the training of new medical talents.
Wang Dong, Dean of the School of Health Management at Southern Medical University, stated that the continuous expansion of the pharmaceutical market and the upgrading of the pharmaceutical industry have led to an increase in demand for talents in fields such as medical device and equipment engineering, geriatric medicine and health. Relying solely on college graduates is no longer sufficient to meet the demand.
At present, the employees in related industries are mainly graduates from higher vocational colleges, higher vocational schools, or talents trained by enterprises themselves, in addition to undergraduate graduates in corresponding majors. Wang Dong said that although the training channels are diverse and industry enterprises are showing their own talents, there is still a lack of high-end talents in related fields.
Sun Agile, Director of the Academic Affairs Office and Professor at China Pharmaceutical University, holds the same view. He stated that factors such as the accelerating aging population, the expanding scale of the big health industry, and the accelerated transformation of the biopharmaceutical industry have given rise to new and refined occupational demands.
Especially in interdisciplinary fields such as artificial intelligence pharmacy, pharmacoeconomics, medical security, and elderly health services, there is a huge gap in high-level medical talents. This directly promotes the emergence of new majors, "said Sun Agile.
