The 200th case of hematopoietic stem cell donation in Jilin Province was completed on the 3rd at the First Hospital of Jilin University. 25-year-old donor Li Xue is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Medicine at Jilin University. Her donation not only brought a patient a chance for rebirth, but also marked a new milestone for Jilin Province in promoting voluntary donation of hematopoietic stem cells.

Li Xue joined the Chinese Bone Marrow Bank after being exposed to relevant lectures during her school years in 2019. In 2022, one of her friends completed the donation first, which strengthened her decision. In June of this year, she received notification of successful matching and accepted the collection with the support of her family.

At that time, I was both surprised and excited, and quickly told my friends who had already donated the news, "said Li Xue.

On the eve of the donation, the patient sent a thank-you letter to Li Xue through the bone marrow bank, mentioning her longing for life and concern for her family, which made Li Xue feel the significance of donation even more. In the future, I will continue to uphold the original intention of a doctor and help more patients, "said Li Xue.

Since the implementation of hematopoietic stem cell donation in Jilin Province, it has taken 16 years from the first case to the 100th case, while it only took 5 years from the 100th case to the 200th case. The Red Cross Society of Jilin Province believes that this reflects the increase in social awareness of donation and the expansion of volunteer groups.
