As the saying goes, "drink and go as soon as you say.". Why can't cephalosporin and wine be taken at the same time? Cephalosporin, really?

The mention of wine makes the world go round and round.

"Feeling deep and feeling stuffy". At the Spring Festival table, five or six cups are essential, but many people will suffer from dizziness, headache, nausea, vomiting, dyspnea, swelling, anaphylactic shock and even death after proving their deep feelings. These symptoms may not only be caused by excessive drinking, but also by cephalosporins quietly "causing trouble".

Li Jing, deputy director of the pharmacy department of Beijing Haidian Hospital, said that when cephalosporins are exposed to alcohol, they will have a disulfiram like reaction, that is, cephalosporins containing methyltetrazolium will inhibit the normal metabolism of ethanol in the human body, resulting in a small amount of alcohol consumption and adverse symptoms of acetaldehyde accumulation.

Mild dizziness, headache, facial flushing, nausea and vomiting, as well as serious symptoms such as decreased blood pressure, dyspnea, heart failure, liver failure, anaphylactic shock and even death.

The doctor recommends taking alcohol, beverages and other drugs for 3-7 days before and after taking cephalosporins.

Pay attention to these drugs and food!

It should be noted that disulfiram like reaction does not only occur on cephalosporins.

Doctors said that in addition to cephalosporins, metronidazole, tinidazole, ornidazole, and sulfonylurea hypoglycemic drugs such as glibenclamide, which are often taken for toothache, may also have disulfiram like reactions with alcohol.

At the same time, it should be noted that some foods and drugs also contain alcohol, such as alcoholic chocolate, dishes containing cooking wine, fermented bean curd, pickled food and other fermented foods, all contain a certain amount of alcohol.

However, some commonly used antitussive drugs, such as cough syrup, compound licorice mixture, Huoxiang Zhengqi water commonly used in summer, also contain alcohol, which should be paid attention to.

Okay, that's it?

"Cephalosporin will leave with wine" is not a joke. Severe disulfiram like reactions do lead to death, but doctors also said that if you accidentally take the above drugs with alcohol, you don't need to worry too much.

"It is reasonable to say that drinking after taking the above drugs will produce adverse reactions of acetaldehyde accumulation, but the severity of symptoms is directly proportional to the amount of drinking, drinking time and dosage."

At the same time, the degree of disulfiram like reaction is also related to the individual's metabolic ability. In general, mild disulfiram like reactions can heal themselves. At the same time, symptoms can be alleviated to self-healing through a lot of drinking water and rest. If the symptoms are serious or not relieved, seek medical attention in time.

Finally, let's quietly tell you a little trick to quit drinking during the Spring Festival. Encounter persuasion, you can shout: "I just ate cephalosporin!"
