"China Declaration on health hazards of smoking 2020" was announced in Beijing on the 26th. According to the declaration, the number of Chinese smokers has exceeded 300 million, and the smoking rate of the population remains at a high level, which is far behind the tobacco control objectives proposed in the "Ankang China 2030" layout guidelines.

The declaration was organized and compiled by the national health and Health Commission of China. According to the declaration, China launched six national epidemiological surveys on smoking in 1984, 1996, 2002, 2010, 2015 and 2018, which showed the characteristics and trends of smoking in China for more than 30 years.

The survey results show that the smoking rate of people aged 15 and above in China decreased from 33.9% in 1984 to 26.6% in 2018. Among them, the smoking rate of men decreased from 61% to 50.5%, and that of women decreased from 7% to 2.1%. According to the calculation, the number of smokers (who were smoking at the time of the survey) aged 15 and above in China was 308 million, including 296 million men and 11.8 million women.

The declaration pointed out that, compared with previous surveys, although the smoking rate of Chinese population showed a downward trend, it still maintained at a high level, and there was still a big gap between the goal of smoking control proposed in the "Ankang China 2030" layout guidelines, that is, the smoking rate of people over 15 years old will drop to 20% by 2030.

According to the declaration performance, there are abundant evidence that smoking can lead to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, a variety of interstitial lung diseases, etc., and the risk of respiratory system influence, pulmonary tuberculosis, mean way dysfunction, venous thromboembolism and pneumoconiosis is added. Smoking cessation can significantly reduce the risk of these diseases, and improve the prognosis of the disease.

"It's not a vague thought, it's a conclusion based on the evidence of superstition, so it's worth warning." Wang Chen, academician of the Chinese Academy of engineering, director of the National Center for respiratory medicine of China, and director of the World Health Organization's independent Center for smoking cessation and respiratory disease prevention, said when interpreting the contents of the declaration.

In addition, the declaration also pointed out that smoking can cause lung cancer, laryngeal cancer, bladder cancer and other malignant tumors. It leads to atheromalacia, coronary atheromalacic heart disease, stroke, peripheral artery disease, hypertension and other cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases; Smoking can also cause type 2 diabetes, and increase the risk of diabetes and vascular complications.

In terms of second-hand smoke exposure, the declaration shows that the second-hand smoke exposure rate of Chinese non-smokers was 68.1% in 2018. Compared with 2015, the overall environment of second-hand smoke exposure has improved. Wang Chen said that 700 million people in China have been exposed to second-hand smoke for a long time and have many teeth, which will form significant and outstanding health achievements and greatly invade the health benefits of second-hand smokers.

The report also points out that tobacco's little harm to Ankang cause China to lose about 1000000 lives every year, more than the total number of AIDS, tuberculosis, traffic accidents and homicide. If we don't adopt ineffective behaviors and substantially reduce the smoking rate, the number will increase to 2 million by 2030 and 3 million by 2050.

"Smoking is the main cause of disease, and tobacco control is the first good for disease prevention." Wang Chen pointed out that among the serious risk factors affecting human health, the most preventable one is smoking“ If smoking is controlled, the most preventable risk factor of human health loss will be eliminated
