Obesity has become a topic that many people talk about. Some people pay attention to obesity because it affects their health, while others pay attention to it because they want to lose weight. Recently, there have been a series of studies in the United States, all of which are related to obesity.

Obesity can induce a variety of cancers

We should have a good understanding of the harm of obesity: it is not only the cause of hypertension, various cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, diabetes, fatty liver, arthritis and other diseases, but also has a significant correlation with the incidence of several specific cancers, such as colon cancer, breast cancer, endometrial cancer, kidney cancer and esophageal cancer.

At present, there are more than 90million obese people in China. Experts predict that the number of obese people in China will exceed 200million in the next decade. Childhood obesity is particularly worrying! Some data show that obese children in China have accounted for 10% of the total number of children, and are increasing at the rate of 8% every year.

Obesity is contagious

According to the traditional view, lack of exercise and excessive calorie intake are the main causes of obesity. Obese people are often called "gluttonous and lazy". However, researchers from Emory University in the United States accidentally found that when a gene defect called TLR5 is found in the studied mice, they will be more prone to intestinal diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease and colitis, and will show a series of metabolic syndrome such as high blood triglycerides, blood cholesterol, blood pressure and blood glucose. At the same time, their weight is 20% heavier than that of normal mice. More importantly, the intestinal bacteria of TLR5 deficient mice were transferred to normal mice, which also showed increased appetite and metabolic syndrome.

The researcher also suggested that it is better to adopt the serving of individual dishes whether eating at home or outside, which is not only hygienic, but also can effectively avoid the spread of intestinal bacteria and prevent obesity from "infecting" people.

To what extent should we lose weight

Many young women often talk about losing weight. Are they really obese? To what extent do you really need to lose weight?

There is a medical judgment standard for obesity and the need to lose weight. The most common, simple and safe method is to measure body mass index BMI. Bmi= weight (kg) / height (m) squared. According to the standards published by the World Health Organization: BMI between 18.5~25 is normal weight, BMI between 25~29.9 is overweight, and BMI greater than or equal to 30 is obesity.

This standard is applicable to European and American countries. In medical investigation, it is found that the fat content of Asian people is much higher than that of Westerners of the same weight, making Asians more likely to suffer from hypertension, diabetes and cardiovascular diseases than Westerners under the same weight. However, this standard is obviously not applicable to Asians. Therefore, as a Chinese, if your BMI is above 25, you should lose weight! At the same time, women's waist circumference >80 cm, men's waist circumference >90 cm, even if your BMI does not exceed 25, you should also lose weight, because this means that you are locally obese, which will also affect your health.
