September 17th this year is the seventh World Patient Safety Day. Recently, the National Health Commission issued a notice on organizing activities related to World Patient Safety Day 2025, requiring all regions to enhance patient safety awareness and promote patient safety management and medical quality improvement in the field of children's medical and health services.
The Notice states that the World Health Organization has designated the theme of World Patient Safety Day 2025 as "Safe Care for Every Newborn and Child", with action goals including: enhancing awareness of safety risks for pediatric patients at all levels and types of medical institutions; Develop measures to promote and ensure the safety of pediatric patients seeking medical treatment; Enhance the participation of children and parents; Advocate for strengthening patient safety research in the field of children. Health administrative departments and medical institutions at all levels should take World Patient Safety Day as an opportunity, coordinate and mobilize resources from all parties around the theme of the event, continuously innovate publicity forms and media, enhance publicity effectiveness, and increase the attention of all sectors of society to patient safety.
The Notice requires that all regions fully recognize that strengthening the safety management of child patients is a concrete manifestation of the people-centered development concept and an important part of promoting the construction of a healthy China; We must always adhere to the principle of putting life first and safety first, prioritize the safety of children and patients, fully implement the requirements of the "Patient Safety Special Action Plan (2023-2025)", and effectively safeguard the health rights and interests of children. Medical and health institutions at all levels should take effective measures to strengthen the construction of pediatric departments, provide full process pediatric services, carry out child friendly hospital construction, improve the safety level of pediatric medication, promote early neonatal basic health care services, improve the mechanism for preventing and controlling medical risks in children, encourage children and parents to participate in patient safety management, and effectively ensure the safety of children, in accordance with the requirements of promoting high-quality development of children's medical and health services and the "Pediatric and Mental Health Service Year".
